The pool at my gym had been closed for two weeks for resurfacing and such, and recently reopened during a chilly week in Northern California. I was looking forward to resuming my aqua exercise regimen yesterday but it turns out the water in a big pool takes a long time to reheat. The class toughed it out but it was so cold!
How cold?
1) The lifeguards were bribing us not to get into any trouble that would force them into the unpleasantly crisp water.
2) Even the 300 pound guy was shivering.
3) For the first time ever, I wished someone would pee in the pool.
(Just kidding about the first two.)
Happy end of 2013!

What I could really use
A microphone that works in a large indoor pool setting.
None of my water aerobics instructors uses a microphone when teaching poolside. I remove my glasses when I take the class so I already can't see what they are doing. And sound doesn't exactly carry in a massive space encircling the pool. Can't someone invent a cheap, waterproof microphone that focuses sound into a specific area? Like a spotlight for an amplifier!

Tips for the tardy to aerobics class
When the class is already full, DO NOT insist on making a place for yourself at the very back of the room, blocking everyone from the exit, the mats and the weights. DO go to the front of the room where there is almost always space for one more. If you don't like to see your awkward close-up reflection in the mirror, come earlier next time.
You're already late; don't be thoughtless, too.
